Guide
Why is my website form not sending emails?
A website form usually stops sending email for one of four reasons: the messages land in spam, the destination address changed or was mistyped, the domain sending the mail has no SPF or DKIM records, or a plugin or theme update broke the form. Send yourself a test entry and check each in turn.
Check spam first
Search your spam folder for the form's subject line. If you find entries there, mark them as not spam and fix SPF and DKIM for the sending domain.
Check where it sends
Open the form's settings and read the notification address. Old staff addresses and typos are common.
Check after every update
Plugin, theme and hosting updates are the most common reason a working form stops. Send a test entry after each one, and save entries outside email as a backup.
Quick answers
How often should I test my form?
At least monthly, and after every website update.
Can a form fail without an error?
Yes. Most failures still show the visitor a thank-you message.
